Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 315-bed academic and teaching hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction, and geriatric care. Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.

The Waypoint Research Institute is currently seeking one (1) Temporary Part-Time Research Analyst to carry out various research activities within the Waypoint Research Institute. The project that the incumbent will support is a research project to foster both improved emotional literacy and positive shifts in how youth recognize, process, and manage their emotions. The position may involve the following activities: conduct data collection and management (quantitative and qualitative), facilitate communication and collaboration between the project team (e.g., presentations, meetings), ensure research methodology is applied according to the established protocol, and support developing KT materials.

Located at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care in Penetanguishene, Ontario, the WRI contributes to the field of mental health by providing strategic leadership on research and academic issues; facilitating innovating science andhigh quality applied research that aligns with Waypoint priorities; fostering partnerships and research collaborations across Ontario, in Canada and internationally; prioritizing knowledge translation that improves mental health and addictions care; and offering mentorship opportunities for students and trainees in a unique facility.

Please Note: This position offers a hybrid work environment consisting of in-office and remote work. The office location is 500 Church St in Penetanguishene, ON.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Conduct comprehensive literature searches and reviews to support research projects
Assists in the preparation of materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations
Assists in the preparation of research ethics proposals, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines and regulations
Assist researchers in identifying, developing, and implementing data processes and methodology to support various research and strategic projects
Actively participates in data collection efforts, including preparing data entry forms, entering, verifying, and cleaning data to maintain accuracy and integrity
Develops sample selection and draws samples; recruit and/or interview subjects
Support the evaluation and interpretation of research data and findings; maintain quality and accuracy of research methodology throughout the analysis and reporting process
Assists in preparing reports, articles, and presentations; participates in presentations within the Research & Academic Division
Participate in project and department meetings, contributing insights and updates on research activities; attend conferences and other meetings as necessary
Maintains a detailed log of all research activities

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in a behavioural/life science field.
Master’s degree in a related discipline is an asset
Minimum 1 year of relevant post-degree research training/experience involving statistical research and analysis, including work with analytical software applications.
Experience with qualitative research is an asset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to prepare proposals, articles, and presentations.
Teamwork and interpersonal skills to participate in interviews and meetings with patients, inter-professional teams, etc.
Experience working with a variety of stakeholders to foster collaborative relationships and achieve shared goals
Experience with presentations, group facilitation, and teamwork/development, and a history of effective working relationships at multiple levels
Organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage competing demands.
Statistical and mathematical skills to assist in the analysis of data.
Detail-oriented to ensure data is checked and consistently accurate.
Results-oriented work ethic with the capability to work independently and undertake necessary tasks to meet objectives, consistently delivering high-quality and timely results
Maintain the confidentiality of information
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong analytical skills with the ability to critically evaluate research literature
Familiarity with research ethics principles and protocols
Demonstrated experience in conducting or reviewing studies with qualitative and quantitative research methods and analysis
Proficiency in data collection methods and statistical analysis software (i.e. SPSS, NVivo, etc.)
TCPS2 Certification preferred
Demonstrated teamwork, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Proven ability to adapt readily to change
Record of achievement in scholarly work (publications, presentations, completed research projects in work or senior undergraduate/graduate setting) is required
Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values, and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
