Salary Range:$33,962.50 To $48,906.00 Annually

Position Summary:  2 positions

Reporting to the Program Manager, the Receptionist will be responsible for greeting and welcoming residents, community members and external guests as the first point of contact to the program and directing them to the appropriate resources.  They will answer, screen, and forward incoming calls and perform other similar administrative tasks.

They will operate within a transitional housing program and community center that is focused on providing services to Femme Identifying clients aged 25 years and older who are at risk of homelessness.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Greet and register community members, external visitors, new residents and staff in a professional manner
  • Answer and direct incoming telephone calls to their appropriate resources
  • Process, receive, and distribute incoming mail and faxes
  • Maintain on-site inventory list and process requests for office supplies
  • Update and maintain telephone directories, files, and spreadsheets
  • Observance/monitoring of camera/surveillance system
  • Reserve and set up meeting rooms
  • Provide training support to staff on backup reception responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and training on office equipment to staff
  • Understand and be able to integrate a philosophy of client-centered care into daily responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality care and service delivery based on SHIP’s Mission and Values
  • Ensure appropriate records are kept and ensure that statistical information is maintained as per agency standards
  • Adhere to the agency Health & Safety Program and the Client Safety Framework in the promotion of client safety
  • Perform additional duties as required/delegated by Management
  • You may be required to administer naloxone in response to suspected opioid overdoses, and must complete appropriate training to recognize overdose symptoms, safely administer naloxone via nasal spray or injection, and follow emergency protocols including contacting emergency services. You will receive training within the first eight weeks of employment.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Human Services or Social Services
  • +1years experience supporting youth and/or the homeless population
  • Previous experience working in a non-profit agency
  • Demonstrated understanding of customer service and punctuality
  • Knowledge of MS Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
  • Valid Certification in First Aid & CPR
  • Training in ASIST and CPI

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Work schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8am-4pm or 4pm-12am but may vary depending on client needsAverage amount of physical effort is required
  • Able to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Able to answer and communicate telephone calls and general computer use
  • Able to lift up to 20lbs (product, documents, etc.)
  • Vehicle travel to sites for visits/walk-throughs and open doors as required

Schedule will be :
1 position – Monday to Friday 7 am to 3:30 pm
1 position- Monday to Friday 3:00pm to 11:30 pm
